Buffon Want to Stay Number One to Age 40 Years

Turin – Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, believes he can still perform at the highest level within the next three years. Buffon also kept hope to play in the 2018 World Cup.

Buffon age of 37 years has now been stepped on. Buffon has 20 year career as a professional footballer and won dozens of trophies, both with his club and the Italian national team.

Since diving debut in Parma in 1995, Buffon has amassed 586 appearances in Serie A. He also entered the Italian squad in five editions of the World Cup and became the main goalkeeper Azzurri in four editions of them.

Although Buffon had countless veterans, not decreased motivation. He did not want to retire in the near future.

“If I continue at this level, both physically and mentally, I can guarantee two or three more years at the top level,” said Buffon told L’Equipe.

“I am not a number two. I want to be a 40-year-old who still be number one. I want to go through the rest of my time well and showed that despite having 37 or 38 years I still was an important goalkeeper,” he added.

“If I say to you that I am not thinking about the World Cup (2018) in Russian, means I lie. I used to set big goals for myself, even though it would require a lot considering my age and time of implementation are still three years again, “he said.
